Mac DeMarco - This Old Dog (2017)
Released in 2017, This Old Dog marked a more intimate and reflective chapter for Mac DeMarco. Moving away from some of the hazy slacker-rock sound of his earlier records, Mac leaned into warm synths, acoustic guitars and stripped-back production.
Much of the album revolves around family, getting older, love and Mac’s complicated relationship with his father, giving songs like My Old Man, This Old Dog and Watching Him Fade Away a bittersweet weight beneath their laid-back sound.
Recorded largely by Mac himself after moving from New York to Los Angeles, the album feels almost homemade — simple drum machines, soft guitars and imperfections left intact.

💿 WHAT'S INCLUDED
Unless otherwise stated, the product includes the cassette, its case and original J-card/artwork shown in the listing.

🔊 ANALOGUE SOUND
Cassette is an analogue format — and that's part of what we love about it.
Small amounts of tape hiss, mechanical noise or differences in playback can be normal, particularly with older recordings.
Sound quality can also vary depending on the cassette player, condition of its playback head, azimuth, batteries and other equipment being used.

To keep your tapes in the best possible condition:
Store them upright in their cases.
Keep them away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.
Keep them away from strong magnetic sources.
Use a clean, properly maintained cassette player.
Never force a cassette that isn't playing or winding correctly.
If you experience an issue, stop playback before attempting to rewind, fast-forward or remove the cassette.

📼 RETURNS & REFUNDS
Every cassette sold by Rate My Tapes is carefully inspected before dispatch. Every cassette that can be played without breaking an original factory seal is also listened to and playback-tested before being listed or shipped.
We want you to know exactly what you're buying. Any known cosmetic imperfections, signs of age or playback issues will be described or shown on the product page whenever applicable.
CHANGED YOUR MIND?
Where you have a legal right of withdrawal, you may notify us within 14 days of receiving your order that you wish to return it.
The cassette must be returned with its case, artwork, inserts and any other included items.
Unless otherwise required by law, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
📼 CONDITION OF RETURNED CASSETTES
Please take care of the cassette while it is in your possession.
Returned products will be inspected and, where appropriate, playback-tested upon arrival.
If a cassette, case, J-card, packaging or included accessory has been damaged, mishandled, altered or used beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the product, we reserve the right, where permitted by applicable law, to reduce or refuse the corresponding refund depending on the circumstances and condition of the returned item.
🎥 PHOTO & VIDEO EVIDENCE
If you report a cassette as defective, damaged or not functioning correctly, we may ask you to provide clear photographs and/or a short video showing the cassette, its condition and the reported problem.
This allows us to understand what has happened and distinguish a genuine playback issue from damage caused by a cassette player, incorrect handling or damage occurring after delivery.
Please do not attempt to open, repair, modify or disassemble the cassette before contacting us.
🔊 EVERY TAPE IS TESTED
Our cassettes aren't simply taken off a shelf and shipped.
Every unsealed cassette is listened to and playback-tested before dispatch.
This helps us confirm that the tape was functioning before it left Rate My Tapes.
Because cassette tapes are an analogue format, minor differences in sound, tape hiss or playback characteristics can occur depending on the cassette's age, recording and the equipment used to play it.
📦 DAMAGED DURING DELIVERY
Every order is carefully protected for shipping.
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and provide photos of the shipping packaging, cassette, case and any visible damage.
Do not discard the shipping packaging until the issue has been resolved, as photographs or other evidence may be required.
We will review the situation and provide the appropriate solution in accordance with applicable consumer law.
VINTAGE & PRE-OWNED CASSETTES
Many products sold by Rate My Tapes are collectible, vintage or pre-owned.
Signs of age, previous use or cosmetic imperfections that were clearly photographed or described before purchaseare part of the stated condition of the product and should not be treated as undisclosed defects.
Please review the photographs and description carefully before ordering.
SEALED CASSETTES
Factory-sealed products are sold in their original unopened condition and therefore cannot be playback-tested without breaking the seal.
Please contact us before opening or altering a sealed product if you believe there is an issue with your order.
Any restrictions on returning an opened sealed audio recording will apply only where permitted by applicable consumer law.
REFUNDS
Where a refund is applicable, returned products will be inspected after they arrive.
Where legally permitted, we may account for loss of value caused by unnecessary handling, misuse, alteration or damage occurring while the product was in the customer's possession.
Nothing in this policy limits any statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.
