C418 — MINECRAFT: VOLUME ALPHA
I think almost everyone from my generation has played Minecraft at some point.
I’ve personally never been the biggest Minecraft fan, so I wasn’t expecting its soundtrack to be something I’d particularly care about outside of the game. But listening to C418’s music on its own genuinely surprised me.

There’s something incredibly peaceful about it.
Even without spending thousands of hours building worlds in Minecraft, tracks like Sweden, Minecraft and Subwoofer Lullaby have this strange nostalgic quality.
They’re incredibly simple, but that’s exactly what works. The music gives you space rather than constantly demanding your attention.
And I was genuinely surprised when I discovered that the soundtrack had been released on cassette.
It’s such a perfect collector’s item because it brings together two things that are heavily connected to nostalgia: Minecraft and physical media. If you grew up playing the game, I can imagine putting this tape on instantly bringing you back to that period of your life.
I’m probably never going to become the world’s biggest Minecraft fan, but I completely understand why people love this soundtrack.
This is just a really cool tape to own if you're a fan.
This just isn't for me, but I'm sure some fans of analog and Minecraft would love this. And it always happy to see something like this on tape.
Final verdict: 5/10
For fans of: Minecraft, ambient music, gaming soundtracks, nostalgia and unusual tapes worth having in the collection.
